Plastic Pollution Coalition
Plastic is forever. It is a material that the earth cannot digest. It poisons our food chain. It affects human health. And is a major source of pollution.
The Plastic Pollutes Coalition (PPC) envisions a plastics-free world. It is a growing global alliance of organizations, businesses, and thought leaders working together to address the toxic impact of plastic on humans, animals, and the environment.
The PPC was founded in 2009 as a platform to amplify its message through strategic planning and communication. Its more than 500-member organizations and a growing coalition of individuals seek to increase understanding of the plastic pollution problem and to find and apply sustainable solutions.
Through its website, the PPC provides lots of information, educational resources (including curricula), creative projects, and tips on how to live plastics-free, including taking the 4Rs Pledge:
- Refuse disposable plastic
- Reduce your plastic footprint
- Reuse durable, non-toxic materials
- Recycle what you can't refuse, reduce or reuse
The PPC is a project of the nonprofit Earth Island Institute.
