The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) is the region’s leading provider of economic development resources. Established in 1981, the LAEDC’s mission is to attract, retain and grow businesses and jobs for the regions of Los Angeles County.

The LAEDC serves the 88 cities and more than 100 unincorporated communities of L.A. County through its free business assistance and attraction programs, economic research, fee-supported economic and policy analysis, and public policy leadership.

Just as the region’s economy has grown, so have the breadth and impact of the LAEDC’s programs and services.  Since 1996, the LAEDC has helped to retain or attract nearly 180,000 annual jobs in Los Angeles County with an estimated labor income, including wages and benefits, of nearly $11 billion.  Taken together with the supported indirect and induced economic activity, a total of more than 400,000 annual jobs with labor income of more than $21 billion were impacted, accounting for an estimated $850 million in property and sales tax revenues to the County of Los Angeles.

Key business decision-makers along with the media and policy makers rely on the expertise provided by the LAEDC’s Kyser Center for Economic Research and Policy Analysis Group.  In addition, the LAEDC promotes proactive leadership for a strong economy through the Southern California Leadership Council and facilitates global connections through the World Trade Center Los Angeles-Long Beach.
