Samaritan

Many urban citygoers continually confront homelessness, but don't know how to help. Samaritan is an app that links those who want to help with those in need.

The Samaritan app was developed after extensive consultation with those who have been homeless, social workers, health care providers, and tech developers and designers.

How it works: Those seeking help, Samaritan Members, work with LA-based nonprofit Pathways to Your Future to establish goals--including, for instance, the amount of money required for housing, food, and medication. Pathways uploads profiles of their homeless clients on the Samaritan app that provides a summary of their life stories and goals.

Those who want to help alleviate homelessless learn about the Samaritan Members in their community though the app and are able to make donations in support of the Member's goals.

The funds raised are administered through Pathways and are delivered through a prepaid PEX debit card. One hundred percent of the funds go to the homeless users.
